As your board representative for Area Four, I am proud to say that I am a product of the Anderson District Two school system. After graduating from Belton-Honea Path High School, I attended Erskine College where I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education and added certification in the Special Education areas of Learning Disabilities (LD) and Educable Mentally Disabled (EMD). Later in my career, I received a Master’s Degree from Clemson University in Supervision and Administration. I taught for 19 years and worked in administration for the last 18 years of my career serving as an Assistant Principal at Belton Middle School, Principal at Belton Elementary School, and Director of Instruction at the district level. While teaching in Anderson District Five, I was recognized as the 1993 District Teacher of the Year. I currently work with Anderson University in the Department of Education where I observe, coach, and complete evaluations on students in the Special Education program. I also contract with Western Governors University where I supervise student teachers during their
Demonstration Teaching time.
I am married to Marty Knight, and we reside on Blue Ridge Avenue where we live happily with 3 dogs, 2 cats and 3 horses. We have 2 children and 4 grandchildren who are the greatest blessings in our lives. Marty and I attend Neals Creek Baptist Church where I am an assistant pianist/organist working with the music program as needed. I enjoy time at the beach, watching the grandkids play football, baseball, and volleyball, as I have the opportunity, and finally relaxing with a great book in my hands.
