Although I graduated from TL Hanna in Anderson, my education career began in Oklahoma. During my 30+ years there, I earned my BS and EdD from Oral Roberts University along with a MS from Oklahoma State University. I have taught at both the elementary and middle school levels while coaching various high school and middle school sports. I also served as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Technology, Executive Director of Human Resources, middle school principal, and assistant principal in four large Tulsa area school districts.

During my personal time, I served as Chairman of the Board for my church, was on the Salvation Army Board of Directors, and was a member of several educational organizations. Currently, I serve at Newspring Church where I attend with my wife, Kim, and daughter, Kelsey.

My wife and I have celebrated 31 anniversaries. We have been blessed with two sons and a daughter along with a daughter-in-law and two beautiful grandchildren.

I have thoroughly enjoyed being back in South Carolina and especially being active in the Anderson School District Two community.

Much of my attention in District Two goes to what I call the “corners” of public education. District Two has K-12 education down very well. However, you will frequently hear me commenting on 4K education. We have a huge responsibility to ensure our students begin their public education with as little gap as possible. We can help bridge this gap by providing services to our four year old population.

On the opposite end of the education process, I want to continue to focus on College and Career Readiness. I do not believe our job ends when we hand a diploma to a student. We must take all measures to provide as many resources as possible so that when a student graduates, they have a clear vision for their future and their next step to make it a reality.

Finally, 21st century technology continues to be a race for who has what device or the latest app. The education challenges are great, especially since we do not know what type of technology our students entering elementary school will be utilizing by the time they graduate.

Regardless, our vision statement of “Respecting the past, embracing the future and opening the world” still strategically applies to our goals.

Thank you,

Richard Rosenberger
