Mr. Greg Tysl
Area 4 Current Term: 2014-2018
I am currently serving my third term as the Area 4 representative on the District 2 School Board and also serve as a board member on the Career & Technology Center that serves students from Districts 1 and 2. I am a life-long resident of Belton and a 1979 graduate of BHP. I graduated from Clemson University in 1983 with a BS degree in Accounting. I have worked in Honea Path for 30 years in finance and management positions, serving the last 20 years as Vice-President of Manufacturing for Medline Industries. My wife, Karen, is a retired teacher with 31 years of service at Belton Middle School. We have two sons, Russ and Cory. Russ is a Lander University graduate and is a teacher and coach at BHP. Cory is a Clemson University graduate and is a Packaging Engineer with PCA in Mooresville, NC. We have three grandsons and are expecting our first granddaughter in November. I also serve on the Belton Alliance Board, working with city and county leaders to promote economic growth and tourism for the Belton area. I am an active member of Belton First Baptist Church. It is a pleasure to serve this community and one of the top school districts in the state. Go Bears!!!
Mr. Phil Ashley, Chairman
Area 2 Current Term: 2016-2020
I am a proud graduate of Belton-Honea Path High School, class of 1971. I received my Master of Education and my Educational Specialist degrees from Clemson University in 1980 and 1984 respectively. Furthering my education at Anderson College, now Anderson University, and earning my Bachelor of Music in music education at Mars Hill College, now Mars Hill University. I began my teaching career in Anderson District Two in November of 1975 at Honea Path Middle School and Wright Elementary. In the fall of 1976, I became the music teacher at Honea Path Elementary and after a few years added Wright Elementary and taught until I retired in June of 2006.
I began work at Anderson University in January of 2007 as a supervisor of student teachers, and in 2011, I was hired as an assistant professor and was the Coordinator of Field Placements, a position I did got two years. I have returned to part time at the University now, supervising and teaching a graduate class.
I was elected to the Board in 2012, representing Area 2. However, I represent all the people of our district.
I attend the Belton Presbyterian Church and sing in the choir. My hobbies are traveling and working out at the gym.
It is my honor to represent all the people of our district and have an open door policy as your board member.
Mrs. Brenda Cooley, Secretary
Area 2 Current Term: 2016-2020
Mrs. Cooley is very honored to serve on the Anderson County School District Two Board of Trustees. Recently she was presented with an award for 15 years of service to the district. Mrs. Cooley holds a BS degree in Business Administration from Limestone College. She earned her MBA from Webster University.
Having worked in the education field for the past 46 years, she had the pleasure of working in Anderson District Two for 30 of those years. The other 16 years have been spent in college settings with her currently working in the Department of Teacher Education at Erskine College in Due West, South Carolina. She will tell anyone that “Anderson District Two is the best district in the state of South Carolina.”
Mrs. Cooley is married to Terry, a retired banker, and they have one daughter. Jennifer, who is employed at Lander University. Both Jennifer and Terry are products of the schools in Anderson District Two.
Mrs. Cooley is so very proud of the students, educators, and parents in ANDERSON DISTRICT TWO.
Mr. Maxie Agnew, Sr.
Area 3 Current Term: Feb 2017-2018
I am a proud graduate of Belton-Honea Path High School, class of 1972. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems from South Carolina State University in 1976. I began my professional career in in Raleigh, North Carolina with Carolina Power and Light Company, moving back to South Carolina in 1981 with Metropolitan Life Insurance working as a Project Manager. Prior to retirement in 2014, I also worked for Electronic Data Systems (EDS), Hewlett Packard (HP) and Blue Cross Blue Shield of SC (BCBSSC).
In the Spring of 2015, a friend and I opened A&W Travels, LLC, a full service motor coach and travel agency, here in Belton, SC.
My wife (the late Gina C. Agnew) and I have four children, all of which attended schools locally and graduated from BHP in 2000, 2003, 2011, & 2013.
I was appointed to the Board in 2017, representing Area 2 in specific, yet it is my honor to represent all the people of our district.
I am a faithful member of Welfare Baptist Church, in Belton, SC where I serve on the Deacon's Ministry.
I truly enjoy serving God and my community as called to do so.
Mr. Jimmy Ouzts - Vice-Chairman
At-Large Current Term: 2014-2018
Born an raised in Greenwood. Attended Furman University and earned a BA. Also earned a MEd and EdS from Clemson University. Retired from Belton-Honea Path High School after 38 years. Served as a teacher and coach for 12 years, assistant principal for 10 years, and principal for 16 years.
Married to Abby and have two children and four grandchildren. Currently serve on the Belton Area Museum Association Board and the Anderson County Alternative School Board.
Mr. Kevin Craft
Area 1 Current Term: 2014-2018
I am Kevin T. Craft, very proud to be a BHP Bear and very proud that my community voted to elect me to serve them as Anderson County School Board Trustee for District 2 Area 1. I have 27 years of business experience as the President of IMS of Belton, Inc. a General and Mechanical Contracting company specializing working for industrial companies such as Milliken, Michelin, First Quality and many more. I graduated from Clemson University in 1992 with a BS in Business Management. I have been appointed by Anderson County Council to serve on the Anderson County Economic Development Board, and I also serve on the Belton Alliance Board, serving as the Belton Economic Committee Chairman. My wife Mandy and I have one son Ross who is 13 and attends Belton Middle School. I grew up attending school in Honea Path and attending Barkers Creek Baptist Church. Our family now lives in Belton and are members of Belton First Baptist Church. My hobbies are golf, fishing, hunting, reading and snow skiing.
Mr. Alderman Maynard
Area 1 Current Term: 2014-2018
Alderman is a lifelong resident of this community. He graduated from BHP in 1995 and from Wofford College in 1999 with a BA in Business Economics. Upon graduation, he returned home to work in the family business, Maynard’s Home Furnishings. Alderman currently serves as the VP and Chief Sales Officer of the company. Alderman has been married to his wife, Kathleen, since 2002 and they have two children, Boyd and Brice. Alderman is currently an active member at Belton Presbyterian Church.
