Jan MundyMeet Jan Mundy, our May Spotlight!

How long have you been an instructional coach?

I have been an instructional coach for almost two years. I started in this position with the 2017-2018 school year.

What are some of your favorite things about your job?

I love having the opportunity to work beside all of the middle school teachers in the district. I have an ELA background and getting to know other content standards better has been both challenging and rewarding. I continue to learn every day in this position. I also really like knowing that when my job is done well, I have an impact on all of the middle school students in the district.

What is it that you do and what do you hope you can help teach students?

My role of instructional coach focuses on the instruction that is happening in the middle school classrooms. I get to visit classrooms and give teachers feedback about what I see while I am there. Anderson School District Two has phenomenal teachers that care immensely about the students that come into their classrooms. They are open to learning and growing and I am thankful to be on the journey of learning with them. Some of the focus of my job has been in fostering classrooms that include rigorous standards-based instruction. This is the where the teachers continue to build onto the foundation that students will need to be successful in high school. The impact that I have on student learning comes through the teachers that stand in front of them daily. I hope that as students see me around the school and in their classrooms they know that I am in this for them.
