Teacher Spotlight

Congratulations to Lori Ashley, September Teacher Spotlight!

Lori Ashley has been teaching for 14 years. She has taught Kindergarten and First Grade. She is currently teaching 4K.

Each year Lori has a class of 20 students. She is responsible for teaching all subjects. Her goals of K4 are for her students to learn the following: write their name, the alphabet and letter sounds, rhyming words, recognizing numbers 1-10, counting to 20 or above, patterns, sorting capabilities, strengthen fine and gross motor skills, and strengthen communication and socialization. She also tries to provide them with new experiences that they’ll always remember. Most importantly, she wants her students to know that no matter what, she loves them. She will always be one of their biggest cheerleaders!

When asked what her favorite things about teaching are, she said that the beginning of the year and watching her students master different skills are at the top of her list. She loves back to school time because seeing all of the school supplies in stores makes her giddy! She also loves getting to watch her students grow as they learn to write their names and sound out letters. Lori says, “Our little learners are like little sponges; it’s amazing to see their growth from the beginning to the end of the year!”
