We are fortunate to have Anderson County Board of Education Therapists

The School-Based Mental Health Counseling Program of the Anderson County Board of Education was formed more than twenty years ago with a grant from corporate sponsor, Michelin Corporation of North America.  Currently there are nine counselors assigned to schools throughout the five school districts in Anderson County. The focus of the program continues to be those students that have limited or no resources available to them. All referrals to the program are initiated at the school level by the school counselor.  The focus and purpose of the program is to stabilize the situation for the student and family and refer to another agency for long term therapy should the assessment and treatment plan deem appropriate.

Anderson-Oconee-Pickens Mental Health Center School Mental Health programs (AOP-SMH) are focused on helping at risk children and adolescents with social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties that affect their lives at school and home.  AOP-SMH programs provide mental health services to children and adolescents in Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens Counties.

AOP-SMH collaborates with Anderson School District 2 (ASD2) to provide face-to-face counseling and other mental health services to students at their schools. This partnership allows AOP-SMH to provide ASD2 families with easy access to mental health services for their children and adolescents. Students have easy access to their AOP-SMH counselor in time of need and it keeps children from missing valuable instructional time when mental health needs can be met on campus. Children and adolescents who participate in AOP-SMH programs tend to be happier and emotionally healthier.

Happy healthy children have better academic performance and increased positive interactions with peers and adults. Being healthy emotionally increases opportunities for academic success and, even more importantly, success in life!
